Outlaw Motorcycle Gangs

ACT Policing actively targets illegal Outlaw Motorcycle Gang (OMCG) activity in the ACT.

Criminal activities associated with OMCGs include:

  • illicit firearms
  • threatening behaviour
  • acts of violence
  • extortion
  • corruption
  • illicit drugs.

Taskforce Nemesis

On 1 August 2014, the Minister for Police and Emergency Services and Chief Police Officer for the ACT launched Taskforce Nemesis.

Taskforce Nemesis has been formed to track, disrupt and arrest members of OMCGs involved in criminal activities across the ACT. Nemesis is working with the National Anti-Gangs Squad, Operation Morpheus, the Australian Gangs Intelligence Coordination Centre, and a range of other agencies including other police jurisdictions, to tackle the growing criminal threat posed by OMCGs across Australia.

Taskforce Nemesis works with its partners, including ACT Policing’s Community Safety portfolio, to identify opportunities to divert vulnerable members of the community from OMCG membership

Reporting information to Crime Stoppers

ACT Policing is urging members of the community to support the police effort by reporting suspicious or criminal behaviour of OMCGs to Crime Stoppers including:

  • drugs
  • firearms
  • extortion
  • money laundering
  • sex industry
  • security industry.

You could be eligible for a reward of up to $1000 for information that leads to successful prosecution involving criminal gangs, or the recovery of weapons or drugs connected to criminal gang activity.

If you suspect illegal OMCG activity, call Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000 or report it online via the Crime Stoppers website. Information can be provided anonymously and all reports will be investigated by Taskforce Nemesis.

Alternatively, if you see a crime occurring, contact police immediately on 131 444.
