Special ACT Policing officers must abide by AFP protocols when it comes to urgent duty driving and pursuits.
This includes complying with the AFP’s comprehensive guidelines on urgent duty driving and pursuits (PDF 200KB), which outlines the circumstances in which AFP officers are authorised to engage in pursuits as well as when it is prudent to terminate a pursuit because of safety risks. Section 26 of these guidelines also details protocols to be followed in the event of cross border pursuits.
