Witnesses sought to armed robbery at Ainslie IGA

ACT Policing is seeking witnesses to an armed robbery at the IGA supermarket in Ainslie early today (Friday July 23).

Around 12.20am three males approached an employee after closing and threatened him with a knife, forcing him to re-open the store. The offenders stole an amount of cash and cigarettes and left the store on foot. No persons were injured during the incident.

One of the offenders is described as having a Caucasian appearance, about 170 centimetres tall (5’7”), aged in his mid twenties.

The second offender is described as Caucasian in appearance, aged in his mid twenties and around 180 – 185 centimetres tall (5’11”).

The third offender is described as having a Caucasian appearance, aged in his late teens to early twenties, 185 – 190 centimetres tall (6’2”), with a skinny build.

Police would urge anyone who may have witnessed suspicious behaviour in the Ainslie area at the time of the offence, or who knows the identity of the offenders to contact Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000, or via the Crime Stoppers website on www.act.crimestoppers.com.au.
