Drunk driver apprehended twice in two hours

At approximately 12.20am Thursday, July 22, ACT Policing stopped a 21-year-old Canberra man in his vehicle on Emu Bank, Belconnen for the purpose of a random breath test. The breath analysis resulted in a reading of 0.161.

At 2.55am, within two hours of being released from police custody, the male was again apprehended by police on College Street, Belconnen, driving the same motor vehicle. 

The male was arrested and underwent a further breath analysis, which resulted in a reading of 0.133.

The 21-year-old was conveyed by police to the ACT Watch House where he was charged with two counts of drink driving.

The male was bailed from the ACT Watch House and will appear in the ACT Magistrates Court on Friday July 30.
