To be eligible for a job at ACT Policing, you must meet the minimum requirements and demonstrate a commitment to ACT Policing’s core values of integrity, commitment, excellence, accountability, fairness and trust.
To be considered for recruit training, you must:
- be over 18 years of age;
- be an Australian citizen;
- have a valid manual vehicle driver's licence (at time of commencement on a Federal Police Development Program course);
- hold a Year 12 certificate or equivalent (Year 10 with a trade certificate or similar experience);
- be physically fit and healthy;
- have the ability to swim 100 metres non-stop unaided.
If you’re successful, you will be required to undergo a security clearance, a standard medical examination, a psychological assessment and undertake a test for illicit drugs in accordance with the AFP’s Illicit Drug Free Work Force Policy. If you do not undertake a test or satisfy the requirements of the test you will not be considered suitable.
Lateral transfers from other State or Territory police services must have at least two years policing experience (and not been separated from that State/Territory police service for a period in excess of three years).
