The role of ACT Policing Media & Marketing team is to ensure a cooperative and productive relationship between the media and police, and to promote initiatives, campaigns and programs in the local community.
Services provided by Media & Marketing include:
- responding to media enquiries about police incidents and issues and distributing written, audio, visual and photographic material to the media
- producing media releases and facilitating print, radio and television interviews on law enforcement issues
- media training for operational police officers
- daily monitoring of local news services
- assisting Traffic Operations in its road safety role by disseminating information about safe driving, road safety and traffic enforcement activities
- filming crime scenes, post mortems and vehicle collisions (Video Operations Team)
- management of CCTV related material in support of operations
- in-house development and production of television and radio material
- producing publications, brochures, posters, information sheets, website content and other marketing material
- developing communication strategies to support our initiatives, campaigns and programs
- liaising with other state and territory police media representatives on common issues.
As a matter of policy ACT Policing will not comment on:
- specific matters that may breach privacy regulations
- any information that may impact on court proceedings
- any aspect of personal protection or witness protection.

The office is staffed from 6.30am to 6pm, Monday to Friday and from 7am to 3pm on Saturday. An on-call media officer is available after hours.
