Chris Hayward

Chris Hayward has been a member of the senior executive in the AFP since he began in 2004 as part of the reintegration of the Australian Protective Service. 

Most recently Mr Hayward was the Manager Business Services in the AFP’s Finance and Commercial function where he was responsible for delivering the functions of Criminal Records, AFP Shared Services (accounts processing, payroll, SAP Administration) and Risk Management. He was also responsible for business improvement programs such as Project Hummer, a multi-phase business process improvement program, and the Cost Attribution Model, an enterprise-wide activity costing system using the SAS activity based management platform. 

Chris joined the Commonwealth Public Service (Australian Taxation Office) in 1991. Immediately prior to joining the AFP, Chris was Assistant Secretary Corporate Support with the Australian Protective Service from 2002–2004. 

Chris has previously worked with the Department of Finance and Deregulation within corporate services, and from 1997–2000 in the Budget Group, where he managed the Attorney-General’s Portfolio Agency Advice Unit.
